Kim Day co-founded Perspectives as a school-within-a-school in 1993; the school received its official charter in 1997 and is in its tenth year as a public charter. Perspectives currently operates five public schools in Chicago serving students in grades 6-12. Kim has spent nearly twenty years working in secondary education as a teacher, founder, school principal, and now as the Chief Education Officer. Together with Diana Shulla-Cose, she has spoken across the country on successful urban education, small schools, and developing school culture and charter schools. Kim earned her Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Kim is a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow and was awarded the 2006 Harvard Business School Club of Chicago Fellowship.
